Location for North and South Shields. Newcastle half an hour by Metro.
Stayed for 3 nights and nobody cleaned room! When I arrived I asked about settling the Bill. After 3 days no-one had seen me and I ended up leaving on Sunday morning without paying! Room No1 has no windows. Daylight comes from adjacent showeroom

It was a lovely wee hotel with exceptionally friendly staff and locals we met in the bar, the use of the 24 hour kitchen was great, would definitely recommend to others and stay again

While accepting that the Douglas Vaults is little more than a town centre pub, the room offered was excessively priced for its size. The only natural light was in the bathroom which made the room exceptionally dark. Moreover the door between the bedroom and the bathroom was very difficult to open, resulting in the need to wedge it permanently open with a door-stop.

This was a very clean modern hotel with great facilities and staff and would recommend it to anyone staying in the south shields area. It was great value for money and has everything that you could need such as easy acces to town including the metro to newcastle

Clean and tidy room in a good central location. Did not stay for breakfast so cannot comment. Friendly staff and traditional pub Bonus for us was very pet friendly environment and budget accommodation.

Friendly helpfull staff. A kitchen open 24hrs if you want a coffee/snack. Pleasant clean rooms. Exceptional value for money.
Be warned...this is a pub and there will be lots of noise until closing time...loud music and Karaoke etc but if you can handle that, this is a highly recommended place to stay.

The hotel had a good atmosphere.it was very close to the town center.the price was very ec onomical.
The toilet did not work for the last two days.the hotel had not a swiping system but I spoke to the manager and he said that in a wek or so he will have a card system going.

The bar on a Saturday Night
Shower Broken, Toilet Seat Broken, room very pokey and small and noisey from music downstairs antiquated TV and freeview box. Maybe it was just room 1 certainly did not reflect pictures on the web site. Was looking for a regular place to stop unfortunately it wont be the Douglas.
